The book states that Rekha and Jaya were neighbors and would often meet at Jaya's apartment in Bombay. It was there that Rekha first met Jaya's boyfriend, Amitabh Bachchan. The book also mentions that Jaya was a pillar of strength for Amitabh during their friendship. However, their friendship had a fallout after Jaya married Amitabh in 1973.
